The Flash 4x10 : Trial Of The Flash review
Be warned there will be *SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it.
The Flash is back and with it brings us a very familiar storyline to comic book readers. The Trail Of The Flash gets underway as Barry is on trial for the murder of Clifford Devoe in the mid season finale. Now under the microscope he doesn't seem all that worried about even going to prison as he says he will do anything to protect his identity which means that he is unwilling to testify in court and provide a credible case for himself. As all this is happening a new meta appears in Central City with the ability to make any person he comes into contact with collapse from stomach issues or exhaustion and is also a nuclear bomb jut waiting to explode upon the city. Cisco calls this meta Fallout which is a hilarious nod to the game of the same name and almost identical situation. Barry races to the rescue later in the episode even though he is supposed to be in court but he makes his excuse to the judge and makes the save with the help of Cisco. Barry's unselfishness is really shown in this scene and it was really good as Barry is like that in the comics, always willing to save the day even if it comes at the cost of his life. This is later expanded upon as Captain Singh who was called to testify against Barry presents the valor award to The Flash the city's hero..little did he know that he was aiding in helping imprison The Flash.
Back at the courthouse and Devoe's wife is called to stand and her overacting in this scene is both hilarious and a bit evil. The way she reacts and speaks to some of the questions asked about her supposedly 'dead' husband is really good and as I said she is really convincing in the role and makes you absolutely despise her which is always good for a villain considering most just aren't all that convincing nowadays. Iris follows her out of the courtroom and right away her whole demeanor changes from a sobbing widow to a smirking evil mastermind. She is of course accompanied by Dominic from the mid season finale who Clifford Devoe now inhabits. He didn't have much to do in this episode actually but he does inform Barry that he acquired Dominic's mind reading ability and that he has already won before wishing Barry a nice life and leaving.
The episode ends as the jury gives their verdict which is that Barry is guilty and the judge sentences him to life in prison, everyone's reaction is actually really heartfelt and the scenario of Barry going to prison is set. As he goes into his jail cell on the wall he notices some writing ''Henry Allen Was Here'' yes he is actually sharing the same jail cell that his father was in for many years before being freed. Barry is obviously going to get out at some point but I'm really interested to see how it happens. This was a really solid episode that featured little to no jokes and felt really serious which was good considering the theme. Welcome back Team Flash it's good to have you back!
