Gotham 4x11 : Queen takes knight review

Be warned there will be *SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it.

Gotham's fall finale has come and gone and it left us with one heck of an episode.

The episode begins as see the GCPD raiding all sorts of places to find the PYG or as we now know him as Lazo Valentine. Gordon who is now in full on captain mode complete with the comic like trench coat manages to find a body but it's not Lazo as he has gone and gotten himself a brand new face or at least that is what Jim thinks. More on Lazo Valentine later.

Onto Sofia now and as her and Sirens attempt to confront Penguin she goes back to her place where Carmine Falcone is waiting. Yes! her father is back in Gotham after Penguin calls him to inform him of his daughter. Falcone tells her that he is very disappointed in her and if he didn't come she would be dead soon enough. He actually slaps her right across the face as Penguin ever the showman gloats in the background to the Sirens. Penguin really trumped Sofia here. As Falcone prepares to leave Gotham with Sofia he speaks with Gordon before a car pulls up and flat out murders Carmine Falcon in cold blood. Sofia also gets wounded but it isn't anything serious. As Falcone is laid to rest Sofia is wheelchair bound and goes to say goodbye to her father. Victor Zsasz especially looks upset and leaves Falcone a bullet to say goodbye. After all Victor was Falcone's right hand man when he was running Gotham years ago. As she is leaving the church Penguin confronts Sofia but is dragged away before he can really say anything.

Also at the church Harvey Bullock comes to pay his respect and he tells Gordon that this is all on him because he brought the Falcone's back to Gotham to which he did. He tells him that he needs to finish this so that's exactly what Gordon does. He does his up most to put Penguin behind bars as he takes over protection duties of Sofia as he and basically everyone else thinks it was Penguin who killed Falcone. But of course it is revealed to be someone else..it is revealed to be Sofia of all people. She has been playing the entire city since she first arrived. She even very surprisingly hired Lazlo Valentine to portray the PYG character in a big to distract both the city of Gotham the GCPD and even Gordon himself. Lazlo enters the room after she tells Gordon her entire plan. As he is not needed anymore she kills Lazlo and forces Jim to take the rap for it. This was brilliant. I honestly did not see that coming and it really made me take notice finally of the Sofia character as I've said before she just wasn't doing anything for me and wasn't really menacing but man was she menacing in this episode especially towards the end. Got to give props to the Gotham writers on this one as I said it really did throw me.

Bruce Wayne returns after not appearing on last week's episode must have been too busy partying I guess as Alfred goes to a random apartment after a noise complaint he finds Bruce in bed (playboy personality is really showing) he throws a bucket of water over him to wake him up and bring him back home. Later at Wayne Manor they both argue and actually fight one another which was a really epic scene in my opinion. Alfred takes things a little too far though as he punches Bruce right into the face and he storms off. He later returns and gives Alfred his marching orders and fires him right on the spot before going back to his partying ways. I love this side of Bruce but I hope it doesn't last too much longer as we need vigilante Bruce back on the streets again. He's just stuck in a slump right now. That scene where he fires Alfred also really threw me off and coming to think of it this episode had some really nice twists and turns throughout. Even Tabby manages to get Grundy back to himself it looks like as she beats him to a pulp and as she leaves he looks into a puddle of water and says what the hell happened to me?

But I wouldn't be talking about this episode without mentioning the ending. Penguin who is now in Arkham after Gordon arrests him for the murder of Martine the kid who he had taken a shine to (and also who he didn't kill) Zasaz who we learn is also working for Sofia now fails to back him up and that gives Gordon the chance he's been waiting for all season to finally arrest The Penguin. As Oswald is in Arkham we begin to hear familiar voice and laugh in the next room. It is none other than Jerome! and it looks like him and Penguin will be teaming up when this show returns in the spring of 2018.

I loved this episode. It was dramatic, entertaining and I think really it has to be my favorite episode this season mainly because I didn't see a lot of the twists coming. Farewell Gotham I await your return in the spring!
