Gotham 4x10 : Things that go boom review

Be warned there will be *SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it.

Gotham returns after a week away and boy does it come back in style. It begins as we see the new inmate of Arkham Asylum Professor PYG begin to play some opera music inside the Asylum which upsets some of his fellow inmates. One punches him and his face sort of shits and morphs and he doesn't feel the pain. As he fixes his face he murders the guy who punched him with a record and is placed into a cell all on his own. This was a pretty cool start and later while he is in his new cell Captain Gordon pays him a visit to try and really figure out just who he is after Lucius had shown him x-rays earlier that were not quite right. As Gordon tells the PYG that Gotham has already forgotten about him as he has no staying power like Jerome Penguin and others he snaps and a southern accent slips through which catches Gordon a bit off guard. The whole exchange between the PYG and Gordon was really well done. Later while back at GCPD Gordon is presented with a sketch of the PYG who we learn wasn't actually the PYG at all until he came to Gotham he was a serial killer but he had no real identity. I like what Gotham is doing with this character and as I've said before the actor playing the newly named character Lazlo Valentine is really doing the character justice.

Onto Penguin and Sofia and after he learned of Sofia's betrayal in the last episode he goes out of his way to make sure she faces up to her crimes against him and brings in one of his top henchmen in aptly named The Dentist. Sofia of course manages to wiggle her way out of this in what was really a cringe worthy scene at least to me. I probably said it before in one of my other reviews but the actress playing Sofia just isn't good at all. She comes off as almost child like. A spoil rich little brat who throws all of her toys out of the pram if she doesn't get her way. She should be a strong confident no nonsense woman not this. It actually really annoys me and I hope she isn't going to stick around after this season. I won't go into much details about what goes down between Penguin Sofia and The Sirens in this episode but I will say it is full of some fun twists and turns and in the end it leaves you wanting more and I'm sure Gotham will deliver that in next week's fall finale.

It's shown that Lee who is now in almost full control of the narrows has a bit of a problem as a rival gang attempt to destroy her empire before she can even begin to build it up. Ed suggests sending Grundy to do the dirty work but Lee refuses and comes up with her own solution to which she does and she gains control over all the narrows. Later while back at the club she tells Ed that his problem isn't anything physical it is something to do with his mind (I gathered as much) and a few minutes later as Ed is washing up and preparing to leave his Riddler persona surfaces in the mirror in full blown costume complete with the line ''Did you miss me?''

This was a really solid episode that once again didn't feature Bruce which slightly got on my nerves but honestly besides that it was almost perfect and one of my favorite episodes this season. Roll on next week's fall finale.
