Get Out review

Having not see this movie during it's original release towards the beginning of the year I'm probably late to the party with this review but wow this movie really lived up to the hype that everyone I've talked to or seen talk about it. Get Out is unique in both it's story and character development. Sure it isn't going to be for everyone but once the ending came I was left with a sense of actually wanting more and that is the sign of a really good movie experience.

As I said the story is unique as it showcases racism in a way that I've never seen in a movie. It's light hearted but sometimes goes full on dark in some of the latter scenes and the twist while predictable doesn't feel out of place at all and actually added more to the movie as a whole at least I say it that way. The performances are also really good here with Daniel Kaluuya playing his role to perfection. He's cautious, funny at times and down right brutal at others. Allison Williams also plays her part well. Her character and Daniel's character do come across as a real couple and their connection was good throughout.
This movie is really compelling at some of it's high points and some scenes had me going like what the heck? that is tribute to Jordon Peele who wrote and directed the movie. His script is spot on and his vision of the movie is stellar and while there is some comedy moments it's a tense atmospheric thriller at it's core and it is so enjoyable to just sit and take it all in. As I said this won't be for everyone but I highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys a really tense ride of a movie with some horror moments added in and around it. Get Out is easily one of the best movies I've seen this year and while I did see it late it really has to rank up there as one of my favorite pieces of cinema over the past 12 months. A must see!
