The Flash 4x5 : Girls night out review
Be warned there will be *SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it.
This week's episode starts in Star Labs as Felicity arrives to celebrate Iris's bridal party. Iris convinces Caitlin to also come along as she wasn't entirely too keen on the idea at first. Cecil rounds out the guests as they all go to have dinner. As they are having dinner the same guy who was with Caitlin in the premiere episode appears and tells Caitlin that Amulet ( a badass who can control metal substances ) wants to speak with her. Caitlin loses her cool (pun intended) and turns into full on Killer Frost and takes out the guy who is later named snake eye by Caitlin. More on this whole situation later.
With Iris going to celebrate her impending wedding to Barry he too is out celebrating with Joe, Harry Wells Cisco and Ralph Dibney. Only his 2nd episode and Elongated man is already one of my favorite characters this show has introduced since H.R. last season. He's funny completely blunt and just downright hilarious at times. Exactly what the show needed. Hopefully he sticks around for the remainder of the season. Next week's episode looks to feature him very heavily as he'll be getting a costume. Can't wait for that! More on Barry and Cisco manages to make him a cocktail that somehow allows him to get fully drunk and also pretty annoying in my opinion, he does have some funny moments don't get me wrong but most are just flat out stupid. If I'm not mistake this is the first ever episode where Barry doesn't suit up at least once. And that just felt weird to me. I never thought I'd say this but the girls were actually the highlight of the episode.
Speaking of the girls as Iris Felicity and Cecil follow Killer Frost they discover she was actually working for Amulet and she wants her back to work for her once more. Frost disagrees of course and takes a massive beat down later on as she is expecting Cisco to breach her to another earth Amulet shows up and pummels her. Towards the end she is defeated by the girls not the guys as Iris puts it. This was really cool as it was great to see the girls get the victory for a change. It's always Barry who takes all the glory which is completely fine but it was a nice change to see the girls win.
All in all this episode was really enjoyable which for me was totally unexpected as I was dreading it going into it. Just the vibe (pun intended) from the promo had me feeling a little off about it, but it really was one of the best episodes this season so far surprisingly enough. Sure you can say the feminist vibe was thrown around pretty hard but it didn't hurt the episode that much overall. Just cool down on the alcohol next time eh Barry??
