Supergirl 3x6 : Midvale review

Be warned there will be *SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it.

This week's episode begins with the Danver sisters making their way home. They arrive at the house they grew up in as Alex seems depressed and distant from not only Kara but her mom also. As Kara gets an earful from Alex about how she was in the same position for months but she wouldn't listen to anyone either Kara talks to her mom in a heartfelt moment.

This brings us 10 years into the past we discover what really brought Alex and Kara so closely together. I have to start off this section by saying that the casting for the young Danver sisters is absolutely spot on. Both actually look like Kara and Alex and they also share almost identical character traits which is always importing. We learn that Kara is basically an outcast at her school all but for one kid who she becomes really close friends with. A boy namex Kenny Lee. They even go on somewhat of a date and Kara really likes him as he is the only one who truly appreciates and understand her for what and who she really is. Skip forward a day and as Kara is about to enter school she hears screams and cries from far away and goes to investigate. This turns out to be Kenny who has been murdered, Kara overcome with guilt and despair attempts to try and prove who killed her friend.

That's the story in a nutshell and boy is it enjoyable. The entire flashback has a really cool murder mystery vibe going on from Alex joining Kara in her investigation to the two sharing a special bond over the situation and beyond. We found out that Kenny was using a telescope to spy on people and he finds out some things he shouldn't know of. This of course is what causes his demise but who done it? I wasn't entirely surprised by the outcome but it didn't feel cheap or cheesy and came off as oh it was that person. Special shoutout also to the moment where Kara and Alex are going threw Kenny's laptop and discover some encrypted files to which Kara says her cousin Clark has a friend named Chloe who helps with this kind of stuff. A nice little nod to Chloe Sullivan from Smallville.

All in all this episode in my opinion was absolute fantastic. It was nice to finally see just how Alex and Kara came to be so close. Add to that the amazing performances from the young actresses of Kara and Alex. Especially Izabela Vidovic who was absolutely amazing as a young Kara Danvers. She perfectly captured everything what an older Kara has and she looked so like Meliss Benoist at a young age. Spot on casting for sure. This episode was another amazing edition to what really has been a stellar start to Supergirl's third season. Up up and away Kara!
