Supergirl 3x5 : Damage review

Be warned there will be *SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it.

This week's episode starts with a bus heist as Kara and Alex come to the rescue. Loved how Kara was all cocky as she saved the bus. ''Anyone else want some? I didn't think so'' just brilliant.

Flash forward to Samantha and she arrives outside her daughter Ruby's school who she proceeds to let out of the car, as Ruby talks to one of her classmates he suddenly collapses and it's later discovered he was diagnosed with lead poisoning. Morgan Edge is back and more ruthless than ever. He straight out accuses Lena Luthor of being the cause of the lead poisoning after she let off that lead bomb in season 2's finale. Of course this isn't the case at all and at the end of the episode Supergirl saves Lena in what was a thrilling final act as Morgan Edge tried his up most to erase both Lena and the evidence that it was him who was poisoning people from the led. He was dumping chemicals from a previously owned company into the local swimming pools. Kara in full on Supergirl mode tries to interrogate Edge towards the end of the episode but he doesn't give her an inch. Got to give props to the actor playing Morgan Edge as he's playing the part absolutely brilliant. He's menacing, delusional at times and just down right cruel who'll do anything to get what he wants. Hopefully we see more of him in the back half of the season.

Onto Maggie and Alex and yes their relationship finally comes to and end in this episode as Alex just can't face life without the image of her being a mom which tears Maggie apart because she loves her so much. They share one final time together before they have a real heart to heart in the bedroom and Maggie and Alex agree to go their separate ways. As Maggie leaves she tells Alex that she'll be a great mom as the last thing we see is their engagement rings on the table by the door. This was really emotional. The bond they shared over the course of season 2 and into this season was special. And the Supergirl writers made it so relevant and good to watch.

The episode ends as (Samantha) Reign is putting Ruby to bed to which her daughter says she has a hole in her shirt. Samantha leaves the room and notices that earlier at Lena's press conference where she stood down because of the whole lead controversy someone tried to kill Lena but the bullet bounced off Sam and hit Jimmy. It's kind of obvious Reign was indestructible though as she is also from Krypton.

This was another fine outing for Kara and this season has set the bar real high so far. 5 episodes in already I'd say it's going to give Season's 1 and 2 a run for their money.

★★★★
