Supergirl 3x2 : Trigger review

Be warned there will be *SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it.

We start off this week's episode and see Kara spending a lot of time by herself missing Mon-El, waking up to an empty bed and eating alone. We also see that Samantha (Reign) is living a somewhat normal life with her daughter who definitely knows something is up with her mom. More on the daughter later. We learn from Lena that Sam will now be running the day to day operations of Luther Corp as Lena has decided to put all her attention into Cat.Co. Makes sense really as she didn't just pay millions of dollars for the company to never be there. Speaking of Lena she is certainly no push over and seems like she will be butting heads with Jimmy Olsen throughout the season to do what she thinks is best for Cat.Co and although friends with Kara she seems like a no nonsense boss so it'll be interesting to see if she notices how Kara zips in and out during the day to do her Supergirl duty. I'm going to guess that she'll find out her identity this season. I do love them being friends though as their relationship really feels real, similar to how Lex and Clark was for a long time in Smallville.

There's a new threat in National City. Gayle Marsh aka Psy, a telepathic metahuman who can control people's minds and show them their greatest fear. She's like Supergirl's answer to Scarecrow in my opinion which I absolutely loved. She whammies Supergirl 2 times and in those 2 time she see's a pod similar to her own leaving a almost destroyed Krypton, or Krypton VR as I'm going to call it. It really did feel like a VR experience for a short time. We later find out it wasn't her she was seeing it was Mon-El who she feels like she abandoned and killed. Alex convinces her otherwise and she overcomes Psy's powers and defeats her.

All while this was going on Samantha's daughter Ruby is trying to figure out why and how her mother did what she did in last week's episode by bending the metal she was trapped under. She even goes as far as to punch some other kid in school as she calls her a liar for telling her that her mom has superpowers. I don't know what this show's idea is for Reign this season but it's definitely interesting seeing her live as a somewhat normal person. She even comes face to face with Kara later in the episode as Lena introduces her. Soon to be enemies coming face to face I loved it.

We end this week's episode with Jon sitting in a bar when he hears a voice in his mind and it turns out to be Miss Martian with a message to him to return to Mars right away. Who knows what is in store for him but it'll be really cool and interesting to see him returning to his home planet after being away for so long.

This episode was such a major step up in terms of quality from last week. This is Supergirl flying really high!
