Wuthering Heights (2026) review

Image
The latest movie from Director Emerald Fennell comes in the form of Wuthering Heights a movie that has been adapted from it's well known book on countless occasions with many more in the future no doubt. This version of Wuthering Heights however feels like Fennell's very own with her signature flair for visuals that are both other wordly and striking all present throughout. Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi star as once best friends before becoming strangers to ultimately becoming estranged lovers. It's a simple story of lust, love and tragedy but it is elevated here not just by it's visuals but by the performances by the two leads who ooze sexual chemistry and passion each moment they're on screen together.  Having been a fan of Emerald Fennell ever since Promising Young Woman in 2020 I wasn't too fond of Saltburn which was her last movie but I really did love pretty much everything about Wuthering Heights. Now whether it's true to the book I'm not sure ...

The Strangers Chapter 3 review

Image
The third and final movie in the Strangers trilogy has finally drawn the three part horror story to a close and it is as boring and uninspired as the other two entries. Final girl Maya returns and after the ending of chapter 2 she is put squarely in the sights of the strangers as she struggles to survive admist being hunted and ultimately captured and forced to become a killer rather than a victim. This movie really strugglers from having any sense of real urgency as it meanders from one scene to the next. Various flashbacks to the past showcasing The Strangers many kills over the years does little to help as not knowing about these characters is what at the end of the day makes them so scary and real. Performance wise it's pretty subpar Maya played once again by Madelaine Petsch is fine but really lacks any sort of energy especially in high tensions cases, I get it's because she's supposed to be scared for her life but it really hinders these moments rather than add to t...

My Best Picture Academy Award nominees Ranking 2026

Image
This is now year two of ranking the 10 Best Picture nominees on this blog and what a year it has been for cinema. There's some really classics and heavy hitters this year and below lays my ranking of the 10 pieces of film that I feel like impacted me the most. I really hope you enjoy reading as much as I enjoyed watching these movies and hope to continue this tradition that I started on here last year well into the future.  1) Sinners - Never in doubt! Not only was Sinners the most original movie of 2025 but it was the most enjoyable experience I had in a theater. From it's lead or leads of Michael B Jodan as twins to the various supporing characters that all led so much to the story Ryan Coogler created an instant classic that really showcased Vampires in their most sinister form in quite some time on the big screen. And that among many others things is why Sinners ranks number 1 for me and while I don't think it will win Best Picture unfortunately it would be a well des...

Send Help review

Image
The master of horror comedy Sami Raimi has returned with Send Help an original, bloody and absolutely chaotic movie that really lends into what Raimi is best know for..insanity fuled chaos with a dash of comedy and blood. Rachel McAdams stats as Linda Liddle an office worker who after the death of her boss is promised a promotion within the company. She practically does all the number crunching and accounting for her co-workers. But when her boss's son takes over played by Dylan O Brien her dreams of becoming vice president take a giant hit as he gives the position to his best friend. This leads to a team get together to close a big deal and while aboard a plane it crashes into the ocean somewhere in or around Thiland. And that's the story in a nutshell really as once we're on the island it really gets into spoiler territory as the fight for survival begins.  Send Help is really Sam Raimi at the height of his powers in the director's chair. It's funny, chaotic whi...
